Lawrence

Lawrence, a hamlet with a gold mining history and flair, is usually referred to as the "Gateway to Central Otago". It is situated on Highway 8 between Dunedin and Queenstown. Southern South Island attractions such as Milford Sound, Wanaka, Queenstown, Stewart Island, The Catlins etc. are not far away.

The Lemon Tree Café is located on the main street. While you are here, you can check out some of Lawrence's excellent specialty and craft stores, such as O'Lea Home Collection, the Weaving Emporium or the Gateway Gallery, take a gander at the Museum and historic buildings, or explore our beautiful countryside. There is also The Country Mouse or Shop22.

Take a gentle stroll after lunch, or rent a bike from us for some more vigorous exercise (all the better to justify that piece of Bavarian Apple Cake when you return!).
